Calvet

The Museum of Fine Arts of Avignon: Paintings, sculptures, art objects from the 15th to the 20th century, in a beautiful 18th century mansion.

A great collector and physiocrat by training, Esprit Calvet devoted his entire life to medicine and the arts. In 1810, he bequeathed by will to Avignon, his hometown, in charge of creating an autonomous institution, a rich library, a collection of natural history and a beautiful cabinet of antiquities, with the necessary funds to maintain them.
