Requien

Natural History Museum founded in the 19th century. Valuclusian geology and fauna, is interested in almost the entire world of science, especially paleontology and malacology.

The Museum owes its development to the naturalist Esprit Requien (1758-1851), who is the most renowned of the Avignon scientists. Coming from an old family of the bourgeoisie, he devoted himself very early to botany. From the age of 18, he took very active care of the Botanical Garden of the city of Avignon and was a herbarium that quickly became very important.
